Southern Right, Humpback whales and dolphins are regularly seen from all parts of Yzerfontein.  They start arriving in September for the calving season and they can sometimes even be heard blowing their signature plumes off the beach.  They sometimes even come into the harbour area where you can inspect them up close.  Yzerfontein is ideal for whale-spotting because of its elevation.
